Local Produce

You’ll be amazed by the wealth of top quality local produce in Hampshire.

The choice is mouth-wateringly tempting. In Hampshire you’ll find wild mushrooms, fresh pressed cider and apple juice, buffalo milk and goat’s cheeses, delicious sauces, pestos and preserves and buffalo, rare breed and boar meat.

You’ll find award-winning sausages, smoked trout, traditional ales and local wines, mint and lavender products as well as chocolate, cakes, biscuits and fudge. There’s also local honey, venison, game and seafood, watercress, salads, chilli products, garlic, free-range eggs and chicken and a wide choice of fresh fruits and vegetables.

A trip to a farm shop or to one of the many farmers’ markets in Hampshire is a great way to enjoy a day out with friends or family. As well as finding out more about local producers you’ll be supporting the rural economy and buying top quality local food that hasn’t travelled hundreds of wasteful food miles.

Many of Hampshire’s restaurants, hotels, pubs and guest houses are proud champions of Hampshire food and drink and are pleased to serve local specialities on their menus.

In Hampshire we’re lucky to have Hampshire Fare, one of the UK's leading food groups that promotes the best quality in local produce. Hampshire Fare organises the annual Hampshire Food Festival, provides training and business support for producers and has a wealth of information for lovers of good food.

There’s also a campaign to support Hampshire’s pork producers. In association with Hampshire Fare and local hotels, the Hampshire Hog campaign – echoing the symbol of Hampshire - is backing the development of cured meats and charcuterie products, such as air-dried ham, chorizo and smoked meats.
