Competition
Win a family ticket to the new Horrible Science exhibition!
We have four family tickets worth £34 up for grabs to visit the brand new exhibition at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport, where foul food is on the menu!
'Horrible Science of Submarines' is written by the bestselling author of the Horrible Science books, Nick Arnold. This funny family exhibition is split into 5 sections, each exploring the horrible and scary slice of submarine life. Sammy Sardine, a young “newbie” submariner takes you through as he finds out just how smelly submariners were, the ghastly food they ate and how sub loos could turn into poo fountains.
On early submarines, eating underwater could be deeply disgusting. Even when there was enough food it was rarely fresh. Sometimes it was rotten and that was before people started throwing up. So often submariners lost weight. Submariners also had horrible nick names for meals: "Frog in the bog” was “toad in the hole”.
The exhibition runs all year, and a visit to the Submarine Museum also includes tours of our submarines led by a submariner who can tell first hand what life was like to live under the sea.
