Hampshire is justifiably proud of its link with novelist Jane Austen, who is adored by lovers of literature all over the world. From the 12th century Steventon Church, where Jane worshipped, to Jane Austen’s House at Chawton, where some of her most famous novels were written and revised, there are many opportunities to find out more about her life and work.

Other Austen connections in Hampshire are Winchester Cathedral, where Jane is buried, Southampton, where she lived near the ancient city walls, and both Beaulieu Abbey and Netley Abbey, where Jane’s family went on frequent excursions.
