With attractive countryside and miles of beautiful coastline, Hampshire has a wealth of opportunities for watersports, horse-riding, fishing, cycling and walking.


Horse riding

Horse ridingThere are many picturesque trails for horse riding in Hampshire, passing through rolling hills, heaths, downland, forests and meadows.

Hampshire country parks such as Manor Farm Country Park and Titchfield Haven also have horse riding trails while cross country bridleways such as the South Downs Way offer spectacular views.


Cycling

Cycling in Staunton Country ParkCyclists in Hampshire are spoilt for choice, with over 750 miles of off-road cycle routes and urban cycle paths.

There are many off-road tracks for cycling in the New Forest and three long distance cycling routes - the South Downs Way, Ox Drove Trail and Three Downs Link - also cross Hampshire and pass close to many attractions and villages.

Walking

Walking the St Swithins WayWith over 3,000 miles of footpaths, bridleways and byways and 11 waymarked long distance routes, including the Clarendon Way from Winchester to Salisbury and the Wayfarer's Walk from Portsmouth to the Berkshire border, Hampshire is also a paradise for those who enjoy walking.

Maps and leaflets of short and circular walks in Hampshire are available to download free, including Kingsclere located in the North Hampshire Downs and Whitchurch in the Test Valley.

Our popular long distance walks are divided into sections, each providing a varied day out with suggested pubs and attractions to visit en-route.


Watersports

Sailing on Southampton WaterThe sheltered waters of the Hamble River, once famous for fishing and shipbuilding, are the natural home of sailing and here as in many other coastal areas of Hampshire you'll find attractive marinas with opportunities for yacht charter and watersports.

Hayling Island is the home of windsurfing and some of the beaches and rivers in Hampshire are also popular for surfing, kayaking and powerboating.


Golf & Fishing

GolfersGolfers will find over 80 private, pay and play and public golf courses in Hampshire for players of all levels and for those who love fishing there are many coarse and fly fishing lakes as well as the famed, clear chalk streams of the River Test.


Country Pursuits
