Here are some mouth-watering ideas for you to enjoy a great day out with a local food, drink and craft flavour. Please double check opening times before travelling.

Longdown Activity Farm
Fun for all ages, with a variety of hands-on activities every day. These include small animal handling, bottle-feeding goat kids and calves and tractor and trailor rides (weather permitting!). Play areas, farm shop stocking local produce, tearoom and gift shop.


Mid Hants Railway "Watercress Line"
Hampshire's heritage railway is situated between Alresford and Alton. Travel by steam or heritage diesel train through ten miles of beautiful countryside renowned for its watercress meadows.

Whitchurch Silk Mill
The only remaining working silk mill in the country, which dates back to the 18th century. Produces bespoke silks for theatrical designers, fashion and interior designers. You can see the craftsmen at work, enjoy refreshments in the tearoom and purchase silk products from the shop.

Wickham Vineyard
Audio tours guide you round the vineyard and describes the history of English Wine, the development of the vineyard and the work throughout the vineyard year. Wine tastings, a shop, restaurant and nature reserve make it a super day out.


Winchester City Mill
This restored 18th century corn mill is managed by the National Trust and is based on the picturesque site of a former Domesday mill. At weekends you can see traditional stoneground wholemeal flour being produced, and is available for sale. Watch video footage of the elusive otters who have made the mill their home.
