Nick and Barbara Overall extend a warm welcome to guests at their home in Honey Lane, Selborne.
New Barn Cottage is situated along a country lane just on the outskirts of this famous village with its many visitor attractions and is an excellent 'getaway' for business or pleasure. The bedroom accommodation is situated in the adjacent annexe - which has been completely re-built - and has a balcony with beautiful views overlooking fields which are part of the South Downs National Park.
The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and homely and have en suite facilities.
New Barn Cottage is in an excellent location, situated a few miles off the main London-Portsmouth A3 trunk road and the A31, connecting to the M3.
Breakfast is served in the dining room in the main house, and at the end of the day The Selborne Arms and The Queens of Selborne are within three-quarters of a mile of the cottage and offer an excellent variety of evening meals.
Accommodation: The two bedrooms are on the first floor of the annexe and are approached by an external staircase leading to a balcony where you can sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful views and incredible sunsets. One bedroom has a 5' bed with en suite shower-bath room and the other has two 3' single beds with en suite shower room. Both have full oil-fired central heating, tea/coffee making facilities, silent fridge, flat screen TV with Freeview and WiFi is available.
Places of interest: Selborne is a charming and historic village which nestles below a beech-covered hanger and is surrounded by National Trust land. It was the home of Gilbert White, the 18th century naturalist and was where he recorded in detail the wildlife and plants that existed then - his house and gardens are open to the public. The Selborne Gallery is home to the Hampshire Artists Co-operative and shows contemporary art and crafts by artists within the county.
Selborne and the surrounding area offers many beautiful and varied walks.
Chawton: Here you can visit Jane Austen's 17th century house where she lived from 1809-1817 and where she wrote or revised her six novels.
The historic market towns of Alton and Petersfield are close by while Portsmouth, Goodwood, Winchester and Chichester are within approximately half an hour's drive away.
