With stunning views of the cathedral, this Grade II listed 18th-century inn in the heart of historic Winchester is the perfect place to meet for lunch, supper or a drink in a stylish, 100% smoke-free environment.
Excellent real ales and fine wines; delicious food in the relaxed, informal surroundings of our award-winning restaurant; oak beams and a roaring log fire in winter; a sunny, flower-filled terrace in summer; and friendly, helpful staff.
We're very proud of our spacious, well-appointed guest rooms - newly opened in autumn 2006, they offer a superior level of comfort in stylish and sophisticated yet warm and restful surroundings. Taking the unique period features of each room into consideration, the design is an elegant mix of antique and contemporary - finely crafted Arts and Crafts, Georgian and Art Deco furniture sits alongside the sumptuous fabrics and wallpapers of Osborne and Little, Zimmer and Rohde, Nina Campbell and Zoffany.
We offer double and twin rooms of standard and superior categories, as well as a luxurious top-floor suite which commands magnificent views of the cathedral.
All rooms feature en-suite bathrooms with power showers, complimentary White Company toiletries, mahogany sleigh beds, deep pocket-sprung mattresses, crisp Egyptian cotton bed linen, fluffy towels and bathrobes, flat-screen TVs with digital services, unlimited broadband internet access (wireless in some rooms), mini fridges and complimentary soft drinks, fresh milk for tea and coffee, Nespresso coffee makers and digital room safes.
The Old Vine's reputation is built on the quality of its food. Our standard menu consists of quality British and continental cuisine, ranging from honest, tasty pub food to more elaborate fare, complemented by a daily specials menu featuring fresh fish and seasonal dishes. We hold a Hampshire Hospitality Award for the quality of our food and service and for our use of local produce. Real ale buffs might also like to know that we're Cask Marque accredited and that we're in the Good Beer Guide.
Our restaurant can comfortably accommodate groups of up to six guests on one table; for larger parties, or to make a booking, please contact us.
Elegant contemporary design enhances the charming period features of our cosy bar. Relax over a glass of fine wine or a pint of real ale (Ringwood Best and Timothy Taylor Landlord always available; one guest ale on rotation) and if you're feeling peckish, a bar menu as well as nuts, olives and crisps are on offer.
In summer, our flower-filled terrace is available for al fresco food and drink; should the British weather do its worst, there is a glazed and heated patio area for those who like to enjoy the fresh air while keeping warm and dry!
We look forward to welcoming you to Winchester and making your stay a memorable one.
