Please note the Temperate House is currently closed as we are working on some exciting improvements.

Avian Influenza Update – 8th April 2023

As you may be aware from Monday 18th April 2023, captive birds are no longer required by the Government to be housed.

Due to this, the walkthrough enclosures will be reopening but with biosecurity measures in place that we ask all guests to follow. In the Jenny Wren Farm our chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, and peacock will be allowed to free roam again under supervision.

We are continuing to take the situation very seriously and are working closely with the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to implement the latest measures and receive the most up-to-date guidance.

During your visit, our series of precautionary measures in line with DEFRA’s recommend guidelines, will remain in place at the park to help keep our birds safe at this time.

These measures continue to include:

1. Guests are asked to use the foot dips at the entrance of the park as well as the entrances and the exits of our walkthrough enclosures (these include Penguin Beach, Seashore Walk and Flamingo Cove)
2. We are continuing to monitor and review our precautionary measures as the situation develops, working closely with DEFRA and the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA)
3. We ask guests to frequently wash their hands during their visit, especially before eating at drinking

We hope you understand that our top priority is to protect the health and welfare of our birds, working with DEFRA and BIAZA to ensure that our plans and measures are constantly monitored and reviewed in response to the developing situation.
