The bungalow is set back from the road in its own enclosed garden with a large rear patio area and lawn as well as a further sunny patio to the front. Please be aware the garden is not 'dog proof' due to the gate at the end of the driveway.
On the southern fringes of the New Forest, Sway may be a little village, but it has a thriving, vibrant community.
Home to a flourishing high street lined with a good selection of shops, including a well-stocked convenience store, butchers, deli, chemist and post office, you can pick up all of your essential holiday provisions in Sway. Supermarkets and high street shops can be found in nearby New Milton and Lymington, both just a quick dash in the car.
You don’t have to travel far from your holiday cottage in Sway for a delicious meal as the village is home to two popular pubs and a restaurant. The Silver Hind consistently wins rave reviews for its tasty, locally sourced menu, and welcomes the whole family – including dogs and horses! For traditional pub grub and daily specials, head to The Hare and Hounds, a 200 year old coaching inn with a spacious beer garden and great children’s play area.
For a small village, there’s lots to see and do in Sway. Get active with a game of tennis, football or cricket at the Jubilee Sports Ground, or discover the New Forest on horseback at nearby Ford Farm Stables. This vibrant little village is best known for the Sway Tower, a 200ft tall Grade II listed tower that can be seen from much of the New Forest. Built by a wealthy local landowner, the looming tower is thought to be the world’s tallest unreinforced concrete structure.
Sway has its own train station and is on the main London Waterloo to Weymouth line, with regular trains to the popular seaside resorts of Bournemouth and Southampton.
Only four miles away from the lively port town of Lymington and the Solent coast, a holiday cottage in Sway makes an ideal base to explore both the sparkling south coast and the majestic New Forest.

We only popped in once - We fancied a cocktail as it was really hot and thought it would be fun to have something different, Mine came out warm with no ice and was tiny. We couldn't sit on tables outside unless booked but the entire time we sat indoors with no air-con, table were free outside.

This is a family run pub with friendly staff serving a selection of cask ales, beers and decent wine list. The main menu is familiar pub fare, but diners will love the specials board echoing what’s local and in season. Check out their event nights. Dogs are welcome.

We found this to be the best pub around for service and food. As soon as we arrived we were quickly seen to and escorted to a table although we hadn’t booked and it was extremely busy. The person who served us was very professional, attentive, efficient and friendly. The meal itself was first class. We had the fishcakes and these were extremely tasty and well presented. We rated this the best pub for food around the area.

A stony beach with sandy areas as the tide goes out, and a great spot to do some fossil hunting. The cliffs are subject to considerable coastal erosion and at times parts of the beach can be cordoned off. The Beachcomber Café on the cliff top is one of the most popular cafés in the region. Plenty of parking in car parks along the cliff top as well as on-road parking.
A pleasant walk along the cliff top and along the beach. There was less cliff than last time we went to the New Forest.

A beautiful shingle beach with pretty painted beach huts, plenty of parking, and excellent coastal walks along Hurst spit to Hurst Castle with clear views of the Isle of Wight and needles. The superb Raft Rocks Restaurant is worth a visit with its Art deco style and roof terrace. You can also walk across the wildlife marshes to Keyhaven harbour and (in season) take the boat to Hurst Castle or the Isle of Wight.
Lovely sea walk within 15 minutes of the cottage.

Milford on Sea is a very quintessential English village which has retained all its charm. The seafront is a delight to stroll along and The Needles Eye Cafe produces lovely coffee and lunches which is well worth a visit. A walk around Sturt Pond is also enjoyable and through to the village.

Due to my husband breaking his leg we hired a mobility scooter for our holiday. It was a joy to ride along the front at Milford. Wonderful views of The Needles and lots of benches along the way too. Great access from the car parks. Would be great if the short path from Milford to Keyhaven could be the same good surface. We felt the rough stones would be too hard to ride on.

Highcliffe Beach

Highcliffe beach, beneath the popular Cliffhanger Restaurant is a part sandy, part pebble beach. The beach has sloping access as well as steps down to the shore from the pay and display clifftop car park. To the east, Highcliffe beach towards Barton on Sea is a part sandy beach at the foot of the second most eroded cliff in England. This side of the beach is dog-friendly all year. However do check the tide times as high tide can make it difficult to walk along the beach.
To the west towards Highcliffe Castle beach, the promenade leads across the top of the small beaches inbetween the groynes with views across Christchurch Bay and Hengistbury Head. Groynes 4-8 have dog restrictions as does the promenade during the summer months, May-September.

Good facilities on the cliff top including an excellent tea room, public toilets, baby change and a children’s play area in the Castle gardens. Plenty of parking and sloping access down to the beach. A family friendly beach close to Mudeford and Christchurch Harbour with plenty to do for all. For those with disabilities or small children there is a beach level carpark, and to keep everyone safe there is a designated bathing area and a seperate area allocated for watersports, all overseen by lifeguards in the summer months. This pretty sand and shingle beach is backed by trees and countryside and if you fancy some fresh local seafood or simply a coffee, ice cream or a cold drink, the beach is home to the excellent Noisy Lobster, serving breakfast, lunch and supper all year round.

Beautiful beach, lots of sand for youngsters- definitely been high on our favourites list, for more than 30 years and still is now the 'children' are nearly 30! - well worth the drive from New Forest. The Noisy Lobster is great and now has an 'outdoor upstairs' too. The Beach Cafe, half-way along, is excellent too- used to do very good carrot cake! The connecting beach towards Steamer Point is dog-friendly all year which is a bonus. Walking to the quay end, you can catch the ferry to Hengistbury Head which is beautiful beach too and often quieter (top favourite!) Even this last week (JULY 2021) the 'kids' wanted to crab-fish from Mudeford Quay!!

We had a lovely week in this beautiful bungalow, which is perfectly situated to enjoy all that the New Forest has to offer. However, there are just a couple of points that I would like to mention. Firstly, the property is listed as having garage and driveway parking. Unfortunately, the garage had so much 'stuff' in it that it was impossible to get a car in as well, if I had needed to. Also, we noticed on our last day that the sheet on the double bed was badly stained, with what looked like bleach, and really needs to be replaced. Fortunately, neither of the above spoilt our stay.

We had a lovely week in this beautiful bungalow, which is perfectly situated to enjoy all that the New Forest has to offer. However, there are just a couple of points that I would like to mention. Firstly, the property is listed as having garage and driveway parking. Unfortunately, the garage had so much 'stuff' in it that it was impossible to get a car in as well, if I had needed to. Also, we noticed on our last day that the sheet on the double bed was badly stained, with what looked like bleach, and really needs to be replaced. Fortunately, neither of the above spoilt our stay.

A very well-equipped bungalow in an ideal location for exploring the New Forest. It is in walking distance of a railway station with links to Southampton, Bournemouth and Weymouth.

Well equipped property, cosy & clean. Centrally located in the new Forest, with two lovely pubs and local shops. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing break,I felt as if I had stepped back in time - no litter on the roads, no McDonald, KFCS or Pizza hut! Wonderful!

Lovely friendly pub. There were six of us who went for a Sunday Roast. Really delicious food and the puddings were amazing too. Would recommend this pub without hesitation. Service was excellent and staff friendly and attentive.

We only popped in once - We fancied a cocktail as it was really hot and thought it would be fun to have something different, Mine came out warm with no ice and was tiny. We couldn't sit on tables outside unless booked but the entire time we sat indoors with no air-con, table were free outside.

This is a family run pub with friendly staff serving a selection of cask ales, beers and decent wine list. We found this to be the best pub around for service and food. As soon as we arrived we were quickly seen to and escorted to a table although we hadn’t booked and it was extremely busy. The person who served us was very professional, attentive, efficient and friendly. The meal itself was first class. We had the fishcakes and these were extremely tasty and well presented. We rated this the best pub for food around the area.

Fantastic! Traditional New Forest pub that's always busy and always friendly and welcoming. Sunday lunches are amazing and such good value. Usually lots of vegetarian choices too. Also dog-friendly in the main part of the pub though not the restaurant, but the food is the same. Been visiting regularly on holiday for about 20 years and never fails to please!

A stony beach with sandy areas as the tide goes out, and a great spot to do some fossil hunting. The cliffs are subject to considerable coastal erosion and at times parts of the beach can be cordoned off. The Beachcomber Café on the cliff top is one of the most popular cafés in the region. Plenty of parking in car parks along the cliff top as well as on-road parking.
A pleasant walk along the cliff top and along the beach. There was less cliff than last time we went to the New Forest.

A beautiful shingle beach with pretty painted beach huts, plenty of parking, and excellent coastal walks along Hurst spit to Hurst Castle with clear views of the Isle of Wight and needles. The superb Raft Rocks Restaurant is worth a visit with its Art deco style and roof terrace. You can also walk across the wildlife marshes to Keyhaven harbour and (in season) take the boat to Hurst Castle or the Isle of Wight.
Lovely sea walk within 15 minutes of the cottage.

Milford on Sea is a very quintessential English village which has retained all its charm. The seafront is a delight to stroll along and The Needles Eye Cafe produces lovely coffee and lunches which is well worth a visit. A walk around Sturt Pond is also enjoyable and through to the village.

Due to my husband breaking his leg we hired a mobility scooter for our holiday. It was a joy to ride along the front at Milford. Wonderful views of The Needles and lots of benches along the way too. Great access from the car parks. Would be great if the short path from Milford to Keyhaven could be the same good surface. We felt the rough stones would be too hard to ride on.

Highcliffe Beach

Highcliffe beach, beneath the popular Cliffhanger Restaurant is a part sandy, part pebble beach. The beach has sloping access as well as steps down to the shore from the pay and display clifftop car park. To the east, Highcliffe beach towards Barton on Sea is a part sandy beach at the foot of the second most eroded cliff in England. This side of the beach is dog-friendly all year. However do check the tide times as high tide can make it difficult to walk along the beach.
To the west towards Highcliffe Castle beach, the promenade leads across the top of the small beaches inbetween the groynes with views across Christchurch Bay and Hengistbury Head. Groynes 4-8 have dog restrictions as does the promenade during the summer months, May-September.

Good facilities on the cliff top including an excellent tea room, public toilets, baby change and a children’s play area in the Castle gardens. Plenty of parking and sloping access down to the beach. A family friendly beach close to Mudeford and Christchurch Harbour with plenty to do for all. For those with disabilities or small children there is a beach level carpark, and to keep everyone safe there is a designated bathing area and a seperate area allocated for watersports, all overseen by lifeguards in the summer months. This pretty sand and shingle beach is backed by trees and countryside and if you fancy some fresh local seafood or simply a coffee, ice cream or a cold drink, the beach is home to the excellent Noisy Lobster, serving breakfast, lunch and supper all year round.

Beautiful beach, lots of sand for youngsters- definitely been high on our favourites list, for more than 30 years and still is now the 'children' are nearly 30! - well worth the drive from New Forest. The Noisy Lobster is great and now has an 'outdoor upstairs' too. The Beach Cafe, half-way along, is excellent too- used to do very good carrot cake! The connecting beach towards Steamer Point is dog-friendly all year which is a bonus. Walking to the quay end, you can catch the ferry to Hengistbury Head which is beautiful beach too and often quieter (top favourite!) Even this last week (JULY 2021) the 'kids' wanted to crab-fish from Mudeford Quay!!
