You're close to the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Hampshire, with its varied wildlife and stunning views. Watership Down, celebrated in Richard Adams' famous novel, is one of the most beautiful areas of this sweeping chalk downland and is popular with walkers, horse riders and cyclists.

The Blackwater Valley and Basingstoke Canal also offer enjoyment of the great outdoors with their nature reserves, boat trips and walking trails.

The villages of Steventon and Chawton are associated with author Jane Austen and on the Jane Austen circular walk you can walk in Jane's footsteps and explore the places that inspired her most celebrated works.

Two of the prettiest towns in North Hampshire are Whitchurch, with its silk mill and fine buildings, and Odiham, with its Georgian houses and Norman castle.

Charles Kingsley,  the famous author of the Water Babies, was rector at Eversley near Farnborough and he’s buried in the village churchyard.

Other hidden treasures closeby include naturalist Gilbert White's house and garden at Selborne, the Watercress steam railway at Alton, Stratfield Saye House, home of the Great Duke of Wellington and Basing House, visited by Henry VIII and besieged by Cromwell.
