July 20, 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of NASA's 1969 Apollo 11 lunar mission, and the first time humans landed on the Moon. Celebrate this momentous achievement with a Destination Space live science show and activities.
In a brilliant interactive live science show, discover why and how humans travelled to the moon, and the immense challenges that were overcome to complete this incredible mission. Get hands-on with fun activities and challenges in the Invention Studio, with the chance to create your very own astronaut pin badge and design and build a lunar buggy! Inspirers will also be roaming the exhibition floors with themed science busking. Sample the food eaten by real-life astronauts, listen to the sounds of space travel, and experience the smell and texture of the moon for yourself!
Complete your space experience with a visit to the planetarium. 'Flight Through the Universe' will transport you on a journey through our solar system and beyond, stopping to explore our moon along the way. 'Capcom Go' is an immersive fulldome documentary that showcases the achievements of the Apollo project and aims to inspire a new generation to become the explorers, designers, engineers, thinkers and dreamers of the future.
Admission: £13.20 per person (with donation), including live science show and Invention Studio activities. Planetarium tickets sold separately. Destination Space is a nation-wide project funded by the UK Association for Science and Discovery Centres and UK Space Agency.
