Adrenaline activities

Calshot Activities Centre, based on the shores of the Solent near Southampton, is one of the largest outdoor adventure centres in Britain. Its magnificent setting gives immediate access to the country's most popular water sports from power boating to Hawaiian inspired, outrigger canoeing.

With over 1200sq metres of climbing walls, 80 rope lines, huge overhangs and roofs, Calshot is one the most exhilarating places to rock climb for the most experienced climber as well as provide a good starting point for anyone wanting to learn from scratch.

Calshot is also home to three indoor ski slopes where you can learn to ski, snowboard and ski bobb on snowflex - the latest in ski slope technology.

There is also the outdoor Alpine Snowsports Centre at Aldershot to experience your adrenaline rush. The centre has three slopes, the tallest of which is 110 metres. All the slopes are fully floodlit and have their own mist system.

If you are a member of the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association then the Sky Surfers Club, based in Petersfield, can take visitors up to Butser Hill based in Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

If quad biking is more your scene then there are a number of venues across Hampshire that take you around the countryside like never before. Venues include the Winchester Quad Centre or Marwell Activity Centre which also offers zip wire courses, archery, paintballing and much more.

There are now three Go Ape adventure parks in and around Hampshire at Moors Valley, Alice Holt Forest and, new for 2011, Itchen Valley. Go Ape is a high-wire forest adventure not for those afraid of heights! It provides a great day out for all the family with a stream train and adventure trails to boot.

Group activity centres

Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre is situated in the idyllic setting of the New Forest and is part of the national youth work charity UK Youth. The centre provides residential and day visit facilities and activities for all groups of people. You can use the centre for outdoor learning and take part in all kinds of adventurous and environmental activities such as archery, low ropes, raft building, climbing and abseiling.

Tile Barn Outdoor Centre in Brockenhurst provides a unique education through adventure service which includes kayaking, mountain biking, climbing and archery.

Woodmill Outdoor Activity Centre on the outskirts of Southampton, provides an opportunity to take part in rafting on Woodmill's weirs on the River Itchen. The four person rafts get you close to the action with no previous experience necessary, just enthusiasm.
