Hayling Billy Cycle Trail

The Hayling Billy Cycle Trail is perfect for a family cycling trips. The Hayling Billy Coastal Path is part of  a trail which runs along the west coast of Hayling Island. It is a permissive route which is used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The cycle route is a 5 mile round trip, all of which is off road. With beautiful views of the sea and countryside you'll find a number of good picnic spots along the way. 

Start: At the car park to the rear of the garage at North Hayling Halt, Havant Road, Hayling. This is signposted as Hayling Billy Path.

End: At the Junction of Station Road and Sinah Lane in West Town.

Mountain Biking at Alice Holt Forest

Alice Holt Forest is not only full of natural beauty but also hosts its own cycle centre. The cycle centre offers bike hire, trails and party packages. The forest has a 3 mile cycle trail and is suitable for both children and adults. This trail offers a chance to explore further into the forest and two secluded meadows that are perfect for a picnic. The trail features steep hills for riders looking for a challenge and a long downhill section.

Brockenhurst to Rhinefield Arboretum in the New Forest

Along this route keep an eye out for giant redwood trees near the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive and Blackwater Arboretum. This cycle route goes on quiet roads and forest tracks and is perfect for a family day out. Take in the local wildlife (wild horses and donkeys) and natural views along the way. In the nearby village of Brockenhurst you'll find plenty of cafes, tea rooms and pubs to refuel after you cycling adventure.

Shipwrights Way

The Shipwrights Way is a route connecting towns and villages in East Hampshire. The name reflects the use of oak grown at Alice Holt Forest for Tudor shipbuilding. This route is a wonderful family cycle as it passes through Alice Holt Forest near Farnham, down across the South Downs National Park, to the sea at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. A trip through history while taking in the breath-taking Hampshire countryside. This route is sure to be a firm favourite with the family.

Meon Valley Trail

The Meon Valley Trail stretches for 10 miles from Knowle to West Meon, along a disused railway line providing a safe and flat surface for all the family. This recreational trail is open to walkers, cyclists and equestrians, passes through the beautiful Meon Valley. Be sure to pack a picnic as this cycle route provides breathtaking views across Hampshire’s Countryside.

Start: At Station Road in the village of Wickham.
