This dog-friendly cottage sleeping 8 (6 adults and 2 children) is in the pretty village of Brockenhurst in the New Forest. It’s an inspiring home where indoor comfort and outdoor fun merrily come together.

The interiors are chock full of characterful charm with a nod to reclaimed finishes and vintage furnishings alongside all the comforts of modernity. There’s a playroom for little ones, plus two living spaces, each with a log burner for cosy evenings, while the large kitchen/diner forms the heart of the house, complete with a snug corner. The overall feel is homely and easy-going, with plenty of room to spread out. For extra flexibility, a self-contained garden bedroom annexe can be booked (at an additional cost), which could be popular for older teens, grandparents or friends who’d like a little privacy.

There’s a lot to love about the garden at Heather Cottage. A large flat lawn unfurls from decking, laid with dining furniture and sofa seating with views over the neighbouring paddocks. Between colourful planters, shrubs and hedging, you’ll find a hammock and loungers, plus a trampoline to keep the kids happy, and an above-ground swimming pool which will bring smiles all around in the summer months.
