If you are looking for UNESCO World Heritage sites, there are two within a short drive to Hampshire.  These are places that have worldwide significance and deserve special protection.

Stonehenge and Avebury, which are located close to one another, are both the most sophisticated and largest stone prehistoric circles in the world.  There are comprehensive visitor facilities at each site.

The Jurassic Coast of Dorset and East Devon is a 155km section of largely undeveloped coast that displays approximately 185 million years of the Earth's history, including internationally important rock and fossil formations.  It’s the perfect location for fossil hunting, taking in a museum or a walk.
