Hampshire is known for being the backdrop of many films and TV productions. With its rich array of historic attractions, impressive countryside and open coast, it's no surprise that the county continues to be a popular place for filming.
Film & TV Productions
From Brad Pitt to Tom Cruise, Hollywood has visited Hampshire many times. Over the years Hampshire has seen stars visit which include, Mark Walberg, Matt Leblanc, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dame Judy Dench, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Cruise, Kevin Costner and Kiefer Sutherland.
Feature films that have been shot in the county include Transformers: The Last Knight, Mission: Impossible 5, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Criminal. Hampshire is also home to high profile TV dramas that have been shot in the county, including Netflix’s The Crown, BBC's Wolf Hall and The Hollow Crown: Wars of the Roses and Sky's 24: Live Another Day.
Tom Cruise shot scenes for his film The Edge of Tomorrow at Barton Stacey in Test Valley.
BAFTA award winning racing film Rush was partly filmed at Blackbushe Airport in Yateley, while Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Winchester College were used for Hollywood epic Les Misérables. Both locations featured in scenes starring Hugh Jackman.
James Bond has also been a regular visitor to Hampshire over the years. A total of four James Bond films have been shot at various locations including Farnborough Airport and Aldershot Military Barracks.
Who could forget ongoing popular ITV drama Downton Abbey, shot at Hampshire's very own Highclere Castle. The programme has been running since 2010, with the final series shown in 2015.

The county has also featured in many UK documentaries including Supervet the BBC's Escape to the Country, Homes Under the Hammer, Antique's Road Trip, Coast, Wartime Farm and Countryfile.
The Hampshire Film Office (Film Hampshire)also sits within the Tourism department. Film Hampshire promotes and encourages filming within the county, supporting local film-makers, festivals and industry related events.
