Discover Chichester Harbour National Landscape
Stretching across the Hampshire and West Sussex coast, Chichester Harbour is one of the South East’s most beautiful natural landscapes. Designated as a National Landscape, this stunning estuary is a haven for wildlife and outdoor adventures.
Covering almost 28 square miles, the harbour is a unique mix of winding tidal creeks, salt marshes, sandy beaches and open water. Whether you're looking for a scenic day out, a family adventure or a peaceful escape in nature, Chichester Harbour offers plenty to explore.
Explore on Foot or by Bike
With over 60 miles of footpaths and cycle routes, Chichester Harbour is perfect for exploring at your own pace. Follow sections of the King Charles III England Coast Path for spectacular views across mudflats, marshes and open waters, or discover charming waterside villages and hidden corners of the harbour.
Get Out on the Water
As one of the UK's leading sailing destinations, Chichester Harbour is home to a thriving boating community and numerous sailing clubs. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of boat trips, offering a unique perspective on the harbour's landscapes and wildlife.
Experience the harbour aboard Solar Heritage, a solar-powered catamaran operated by Chichester Harbour Conservancy, with cruises running throughout the year. During the summer months, step back in time with a sailing trip aboard Terror, a beautifully restored Victorian oyster boat operated by the Friends of Chichester Harbour.
A Haven for Wildlife
Chichester Harbour is internationally recognised for its exceptional wildlife and diverse habitats. Its rich coastal environment includes salt marshes, mudflats, seagrass meadows, reedbeds, shingle banks, sandy shores and grazing marshes.
These habitats support an abundance of wildlife throughout the year, from migratory birds and wading species to marine life and resident seals, making the harbour one of the region's premier destinations for nature lovers.
Relax and Unwind
For many visitors, the greatest attraction is simply the sense of peace and space. Enjoy waterside walks, panoramic coastal views and some of the South Coast's most tranquil scenery. As evening falls, the harbour's open skies provide excellent opportunities for stargazing and watching spectacular sunsets over the water.

Whether you're walking the coast, spotting wildlife, setting sail or simply soaking up the scenery, Chichester Harbour is a destination that invites you to slow down, explore and reconnect with nature.
