Built in 1907, the Kings Theatre is one of two beautiful Frank Matcham theatres in the city. With a seating capacity of up to 1,600 it is also one of the largest venues in Portsmouth.
Over the past 100+ years, the Kings Theatre has seen performances from some of the biggest and most famous names in theatre and film, including everyone from Noel Coward, Sean Connery and Ivor Novello to Jake Quickenden and Jane McDonald.
Shows and productions at the Kings Theatre
In recent years, performances at the Kings Theatre have included West End touring productions of The Mousetrap, Dirty Dancing, Mama Mia, Chicago, Avenue Q, The Woman in Black, Grease, and Joseph and His Technicolour Dreamcoat.
Panto 2019 – Aladdin
In December the Kings will of course once again be presenting its famed panto, this time a production of Aladdin starring Boyzone’s Shane Lynch, Phats & Small’s Ben Ofoedu, The Voice star Lucy Kane, and Jack Edwards as Widow Twankey. As ever you can expect laughter, music, audience interaction and a few surprises along the way. Tickets are flying (like the magic carpet) so book now for best seats.
