About
Author of 'A Spirited Guide to Vermouth. An aromatic journey with botanical notes, classic cocktails and elegant recipes,' Jack Adair Bevan will take you on a journey through the wide world of vermouth.
Vermouth is currently experiencing a revival, and we can't seem to get enough of it. In his new book 'A Spirited Guide to Vermouth' Jack celebrates this versatile drink and its botanicals, drawing out vermouth's history and its delicate herbal flavours with recipes for cocktails, and some food to accompany them.
Join him at Heckfield for a vermouth workshop. On arrival you will be handed a cocktail from his book as well as a guided tasting of a couple of vermouths on the market. This will be followed by DIY vermouth-making session and chance to really get to grips with what makes up a vermouth recipe.
A signed copy of Jack's book, A Spirited Guide to Vermouth (published by Headline Home in May 2019), is included in the price of the ticket.
Jack is the perfect author to tell us exactly what this drink is, how to drink it and what to mix it with, including sections for cocktails to drink before sunset and after sundown. As a drinks maker and writer he has visited some of the best bars in the world and has spent years researching vermouth and trying as many varieties as possible. This book is the culmination of his research - his love letter to this versatile drink, showcasing it in a collection of recipes that allow it to shine. From a Somerset Appletini to a Rosemary Bijou via a Vodka Martinez and four twists on the classic Negroni, Jack also includes a chapter of lower alcohol versions of the classics.
Over 18s only. Takes place at Heckfield Place - Cellar. You are welcome to stay afterwards for a drink in our Trestle Bar. Tickets can be booked online.
