About
South Downs Poetry Festival Residential Weekend.
A mixed taught and self writing course, with readings, workshops and a lot of group mixing.
• Two principal tutors - both resident throughout the course - Kim Moore and Hugh Dunkerley. Kim is an acclaimed and award-winning Cumbrian poet, with plenty of experience of leading workshops. Hugh leads the Creative Writing MA at Chichester University. His poetry is imbued with a love of the Downs and he writes a lot about the wild.
• An optional guest workshop on Line Endings from Wendy Klein.
• Evening readings, including one from Costa Prize winning poet John Haynes.
• Opportunities for one to one tutoring.
• A lovely place to walk and work outside if required.
• An informal atmosphere and supportive ethos.
The course starts with an introduction followed by dinner on Friday evening and continues through Saturday and Sunday, closing at lunchtime on Monday - the Mayday Bank Holiday. All participants should attend the course throughout and be resident at the Sustainability Centre. The course fee is fully inclusive of accommodation, meals and parking on site.
Please note the accommodation is hostel style and bathrooms are not en suite. We have dedicated use of the Wetherdown Lodge during the course. For more information see http://www.sustainability-centre.org
Places on this residential are limited to no more than 14. We are holding 4 places for fully funded bursary attendees - those who otherwise could not afford the fee - kindly funded by an Arts Council grant . If you are interested in the possibility of a fully-funded place and think you may be eligible, please email info@SDPF.org.uk with poetry bursary in the subject header.
