About
Join artist Ewa Monika Zebrowski on the ideas behind making your own artist's book. She will speak about the artists' book as a form of personal expression, inspiring/guiding participants to begin to craft an accordion-style book of their own.
The well-known British-Canadian artist - whose photographic and book work is found in the collections at the MoMA, the Tate, the National Poetry Library among over 50 museums, libraries and galleries worldwide - will share her ideas and concepts, explain her process, and show a few of her artist's books. She will talk about her career as an artist, a photographer and a book maker.
Split into three sections: Introduction to her books; PowerPoint presentation, BOOK LIFE, giving an overview of the range of her production; and how you can conceive and create your own personal project - just how to begin... Ewa, who will exhibit at the Mannheim Biennale curated by British writer and curator, David Campany in February 2020, will introduce the group to the thought process and the possibilities.
In 2016 she did a residency at Hauser & Wirth in Somerset and produced a limited edition artists's book, 24 Hours in Somerset, A Winter's Tale which she will present.
Her mission statement is here: "I do not approach book making as a craft. To me it is an artistic journey over time. For me it is based on my visual experiences with my camera. And sometimes writing."
PLEASE NOTE: Due to high demand for Heckfield Place's restaurants, lunch before or dinner after the event usually needs to be reserved in advance. If you would like to book a table, please email.
