Basingstoke Together's pop-up programme of events in Basingstoke Town Centre returns this February half term!
What is The Event Box? A giant inflatable cube situated in Market Place in Top of Town. The space is completely enclosed with heating (it's February in the UK, so they've come prepared!). Each day, The Event Box will be transformed into a different event space, with something to suit everyone.
So how does it work? All of the activities in the daytime are completely free of charge (yes, that's correct!). There is no need to pre-book simply turn up and take part in the day. Upon your arrival at the cube, you will be issued with a wristband for the next available time slot.
What's on? The Science Box Monday 17th February 2020, 11am – 4pm. Recommended Age: 5+. The Science Boffins have been sent to Basingstoke to help teach budding scientists some of their mind-boggling experiments. So, if you fancy making your own slime or balloon kebabs, then come along on Monday and join the Boffins for some interactive fun.
The Chatter Box Tuesday 18th February 2020, 8am – 9:30am. Network with local businesses in this unique structure at the heart of Basingstoke Town Centre. Starting with a short presentation from Basingstoke Together, followed by a networking opportunity for local businesses. Refreshments provided, free to attend but tickets must be pre-booked.
The Train Box Tuesday 18th February 2020, 11am – 3pm. Recommended Ages: 1 – 7. Little train enthusiasts will be amazed as The Event Box is transformed with tens of metres of model railways, train tunnels, ride on trains and a dress-up corner, providing a perfect outing for toddlers and younger children.
The Train Box Quiet Hour (All ages. Exclusively for children with heightened sensory needs) Tuesday 18th February 2020, 3pm – 4pm. 'The Train Box' turns into a 'Quiet Hour' so that those with heightened sensory needs can enjoy the fun in a more peaceful environment. Places for the 'Quiet Hour' will be ticketed, to regulate numbers and to avoid disappointment on the day. Tickets for 'The Quiet Hour' are free but booking is required.
The Magic Box Wednesday 19th February 2020, 11am – 4pm. Recommended Age: 5+. Grab your top hats! During 'The Magic Box', guests will learn how to perfectly execute four different magic tricks that will guarantee to leave family and friends in awe. they will also have a bundle of Magical Prizes from GoGo Gadget to give to the best-dressed witch or wizard on the day! just share your photo with #BeSquared to enter!
The Fitness Box Wednesday 19th February 2020, 5pm – 6pm. Suitable for Babies, Toddlers & Parents. FunMumFitness brings her parent and baby taster sessions to town with two 30-minute exercise classes where parents can exercise to their own limits whilst bonding with their little ones. Tickets are free but booking is required.
The Gaming Box Thursday 20th February 2020, 11am – 4pm. Recommended Age: 8+. Become a fruit ninja or space cowboy as you lose yourself in four virtual reality challenges, whilst your family and friends enjoy watching on the screens provided. Take on your friends in some computer game classics or table football in this gaming arena, provided by Glitch VR.
The Comedy Box Thursday 20th February 2020, 7pm – 10pm Over 18's Only. The week will culminate with a 'Jan Jack's Laughter House' takeover. Five established comedians; Dan Kielty, Ryan McDonnell, Fiona Allen, Jan Jack and headliner, Steve Best, come together for a night of hilarity and fun in a unique pop-up venue.
