Set in the glorious countryside of the South Downs National Park, Petersfield is an ancient market town originally built as a Norman 'new town' at the end of the 11th Century. It is now a vibrant place for shopping and eating out.

When looking for things to do in Peterborough, consider visiting the main square. This attractive focal point provides the perfect venue for twice weekly markets on Saturdays and Wednesdays. There is also a Farmers' Market on the first Sunday of every month.

At its centre stands the magnificent equestrian statue of King William III. The Church of St. Peter dates back to 1120 and retains many original features.

Petersfield's arts scene

Visit Petersfield during the August bank holiday weekend to take part in The Petersfield Festivities.

Petersfield has a vibrant musical and artistic scene. March is a great time to visit, when the Petersfield Musical Festival is held. This week-long musical extravaganza has taken place since 1901. Many eminent composers and musicians have been associated with the festival over the years.

Music, art and drama can be enjoyed at Bedales Arts in nearby Steep.
