Idyllically set within the South Downs National Park, an ideal watering hole for walkers, in the village of Hambledon (best known as the cradle of cricket), this 16th-century oak-beamed pub is most definitely the hub of the village. There is a great atmosphere, and once a month on Sunday afternoons you are likely to hear the soothing tones of live jazz drifting out from the bar area.

Under new ownership since August 2012, The Vine has been refurbished inside and out, giving it a whole new lease of life and as you enter you are immediately aware of the warm and friendly buzz. What better way to enjoy a pint of well-kept cask ale than in front of an open fire or enjoying the garden soaking up the friendly atmosphere?

A well situated bar in the pub presents quite a quirky and interesting feature and two log fires radiate a cosy ambience in winter. The pretty garden has been returned to grass and flower beds, bursting with colour in spring and summer, this is the ideal traditional English country garden for a relaxing pint or satisfying bite to eat. After refreshment, there are some lovely walks to enjoy nearby. Walkers and ramblers are invited to drop in for some light refreshments such as a ploughmans or sandwiches.

The food is all freshly prepared and beautifully cooked to order, the sweets are homemade too and particularly scrumptious! The daily menu includes such pub classics as Steak and Kidney Pie, Tuna steaks on a salad nicoise, scampi and hand cut chips and the Specials Board changes daily. Sunday Lunch is said to be the best in the area with roast potatoes as they should be; crisp on the outer and soft inside, and the Yorkshire puddings are just right too.
