Luttrell’s Tower

Set just back from the shores of the Solent, Luttrell’s Tower can sleep up to four people. Luttrell’s Tower is the only surviving work of Thomas Sandby, the first Professor of Architecture at the Royal Academy. It was built in 1780 for Temple Simon Luttrell. Queen Victoria considered buying the tower (together with neighbouring Eaglehurst House) as her seaside residence. The Landmark Trust acquired the building in 1968.

All the rooms have handsome chimney pieces and the top room has fine plaster and shellwork. We have arranged this splendid eyrie so that you can cook, eat and sit in it, watching the Solent all the while. There is also a tunnel from the cellar to the beach.
