North Wessex Downs 50 mile Circular
A challenging bike ride through some of the most beautiful countryside in South Central England.
The route, which uses almost exclusively quiet country lanes, ranges from flat valley roads to one of hardest climbs in the South East conquering Walbury Hill. At the top of the highest chalk down in England (287m), riders will be rewarded with spectacular view across the North Wessex Downs AONB before an exhilarating descent back to Whitchurch Total ascent approximately 3,200ft.
The ride passes through many picturesque villages and market towns, and takes in many places of interest including the Kennet and Avon Canal, the Crofton Beam Engine, the ancient Savernake Forest and Walbury Camp, the largest hillfort in Berkshire.
