A Night at the Opera by Candlelight

London Concertante will present A Night at the Opera by Candlelight at Portsmouth Cathedral.  

The concert will feature a selection of well-known opera arias and overtures by Puccini, Verdi, Rossini, and Mozart, performed by the acclaimed orchestra and three distinguished opera singers.

Under the gentle glow of hundreds of flickering candles, the programme will include Puccini’s Nessun Dorma, Delibes’ Flower Duet, and Verdi’s La donna è mobile, alongside selected arias from Madame Butterfly, Turandot, Tosca, Carmen, and more.

Three magnificent voices:

• Claire Wild (Soprano) has performed with leading opera companies, including Opera North, Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera, and the Royal Opera House. She is also known for her premieres of contemporary works with ensembles such as Psappha and the ROH.
• Flora McIntosh (Mezzo-soprano) has appeared with Longborough Festival Opera, English National Ballet, and OperaUpClose, in roles including Waltraute (Die Walküre), Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos), and Carmen. She was appointed Artistic Director of OperaUpClose in 2022.
• Dominick Felix (Tenor) has performed with Garsington Opera, Pegasus Opera, and Wexford Festival Opera. His roles include Rodriguez (Don Quichotte), Mime (Das Rheingold), and Gamekeeper (Rusalka).
