Join novelist Tracy Chevalier for the launch of her latest novel, 'A Single Thread', in conversation with Alison Finch.
Tracy Chevalier has always loved cathedrals, and finds Winchester's particularly rich in stories. She will discuss the genesis of her new novel 'A Single Thread', set in and around Winchester Cathedral in the 1930s, with its focus on the embroidered cushions and kneelers in the Quire and Presbytery, made by a group of volunteer women. With sidetracks into the Fishermen's Chapel, the bell chamber, chantries, and other nooks and crannies, Tracy will explore the power of a great building and its effect on the communities that grow up around it.
Tracy has written eight novels, including Girl with a Pearl Earring which sold 5 million copies worldwide. Tracy's latest novel, 'A Single Thread', is set in Winchester in 1932 and follows the fictional story of Violet Speedwell who joins the team of Broderers at Winchester Cathedral.
