About
This Easter holidays, Whitchurch Silk Mill is hosting a family wildlife day in the grounds!
Join local animal and nature charities in the Mill gardens for our second Wild and Wonderful Family Day! Take part in activities to learn all about the wildlife of Hampshire, try river dipping with the Watercress and Winterbournes project to see what you can find in the River Test, and take part creating a collaborative British wildlife mural as part of Art Fund's Wild Escape project!
We are really pleased to welcome representatives from:
Swan Support
Wessex Rivers Trust (with the Watercress and Winterbournes project)
Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital
Woodland Trust
Tadley Honey Bees
Butterfly Conservation
and more…
All will be giving you a chance to learn about their fantastic work, activities to participate in, and challenges to complete. Ashley Archer will be back with her fabulous face painting, and we will have lots of chances to get creative with a big wildlife mural, make & take recycled bird feeders and a chance to find out how wildlife is linked to our silk through our colour trail.
Drop in anytime between 10:30 am and 3:00 pm for this free family fun event – donations are welcome!
About the Wild Escape
The Wild Escape is a major new project led by the Art Fund, uniting hundreds of museums with schools and families to celebrate UK wildlife and creativity.
~
From January to July 2023, The Wild Escape invites children to find a favourite animal in their local museum and create artwork imagining its journey to a natural habitat.
The pictures and stories children create will be brought together in a collective work of art that imagines a better future for the wildlife on our doorstep, launched online and in venues across the UK on Earth Day 2023.
The Wild Escape is led by Art Fund alongside hundreds of museums, artists and environmentalists, in partnership with WWF, the RSPB, National Trust and English Heritage.
The Wild Escape is made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England's National Lottery Project Grants, with additional support from Kusuma Trust, Foyle Foundation and a group of generous individuals and trusts.
The Wild Escape is inspired by Wild Isles, a landmark BBC series exploring flora and fauna of the UK.
