Pack a picnic and follow an Easter trail in one of Hampshire’s beautiful spring gardens or learn about wildlife along the way with an egg-hunt at an animal attraction.
The eggs-tra long Easter weekend takes place from Friday 3 April – Monday 6 April 2026, and with two weeks of Easter school holidays to enjoy, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a spring break in Hampshire.

Easter Egg-splorers at Marwell Zoo

Marwell has plenty to egg-splore this Easter with heaps of family fun across the zoo, including the Golden Egg Hunt, with prizes to be won every day.
Keep your eyes peeled for amazing egg-laying animal facts around the zoo, and cracking photo spots including historic Marwell Hall which will be beautifully transformed into Bunnington Hall for Easter.
There will also be crafts, garden games, and storytelling as well as the chance to meet the Easter Bunny and take part in the Big Easter Egg Hunt over the Easter Weekend (3 to 5 April).

Easter Egg Hunts at the National Trust

Easter trails with the National Trust never dis-egg-point and 2026 promises to be as marvellous as ever.
At The Vyne near Basingstoke, from 21 March to 6 April, pick up an Easter trail map and bunny ears and set off on a hunt for 10 play points spread across the gardens. There’s loads of space to run and let off steam as kids explore the walled garden and the orchard, and race across the lakeside lawn to find fun and active games.
At Mottisfont near Romsey, from 21 March to 12 April, the Topsy-Turvy tea party theme will feature tea time-inspired games like the scone and spoon race, toss the teabag and plate spinning.
And at Hinton Ampner near Alresford, from 21 March to 12 April, bounce around the activity trail and try out the 10 energetic and fun challenges with rabbity versions of classic games, including pin the tail on the bunny and bunny ear hoop-la.

Winchester Bunny Hop Easter Trail
28 March – 12 April 2026
Winchester Business Improvement District (BID) is back to fill the city with Easter cheer courtesy of its annual Bunny Hop Easter Trail. Pick up or download a map and trail sheet then seek out the Easter-themed words hidden in the windows of local businesses.
Once you have discovered them all, return your completed trail sheet to the Visitor Information Centre, The Arc or Winchester City Museum to collect an egg-citing little treat. All completed sheets will also be entered into a prize draw to win a delightful Easter-inspired hamper, brimming with goodies donated by local businesses.
Southampton's Old Town Easter Trail

A brand-new free family trail is popping up this Easter in Southampton's Old Town. Using the trail map, make your way around the city to spot colourful trail posters, each one revealing an item the Easter Bunny needs for his spring tea party. Complete the trail and head to the end location to claim a FREE prize.
Those over 18 will have the opportunity to enter our prize draw for a chance to win tickets to a Southampton Summer Sessions show, taking place on Guildhall Square this June.

Get on Down-to(n) Highclere Castle on Saturday 11 April for the annual Easter trail through its impressive gardens and woodland with clues to be collected by children taking part and a chocolate Easter egg reward at the end.
Easter festivities continue throughout the day with a participatory Easter bonnet parade and the chance to meet some of the estate’s farm animals.

The Vyne is a warm, red-bricked Tudor mansion built in the 16th Century for Lord Sandys, Henry VIII's Lord Chamberlain. It later passed into the hands of the Chute family, who cared for the house and estate for over 300 years. Chawton House was owned by Jane Austen’s brother Edward, and known to her as ‘the Great House’. Jane lived in a cottage on his estate and would stroll up to ‘dawdle away’ many an hour in the grand Elizabethan manor and its picturesque gardens.
Located in Selborne, a stunning corner of the South Downs National Park, Gilbert White’s 17th century home is now a museum open to visitors. Museum highlights include, the original manuscript of ‘The Natural History of Selborne’, White’s 18th century floral embroidered bed covers and White’s taxidermy hawfinch.
Longdown Activity Farm is a fantastic day out for everyone. A daily schedule of farming activities includes kid goat and calf bottle-feeding, duck feeding, and meeting small animals such as baby chicks, rabbits and guinea pigs during the Animal Encounter Experience. There are lots of other farm animals to see too.
