What can twenty pounds buy you in Hampshire?  The answer is a whole lotta fun!

We’ve done the research for you and summed up twenty tremendous things you can do for twenty pounds in Hampshire — and most of them will leave you plenty of change to buy a cuppa in the café too!

Ticket prices were correct at the time of publishing but please check with each attraction before visiting and you can usually save some money if you book online in advance too!


1. Sir Harold Hillier Gardens

Stroll the magnificent Sir Harold Hillier Gardens set over 180 acres of rolling Hampshire countryside. Take in the beautiful floral displays during any season with plenty for the little ones to explore too. Adult entry is £16.50, children just £4.75, and under 5s go free.


2. Moors Valley Country Park

Head out on a day at Moors Valley Country Park, on the Hampshire/Dorset border. Here, you will find a wealth of play areas to enjoy and trails to follow. Although admission is free to Moors Valley Country Park, all day parking ranges from £14 upwards (depending on the time of year and day of the week). 


3. Buckler's Hard

Spend a day in the beautiful maritime village of Buckler's Hard. Discover more about the village's history in the museum (adults £6 and children £4.25) and take a scenic river cruise along the Beaulieu River for £8 (children £6). 


4. Exbury Gardens

This spectacular landscaped garden has enough pretty corners to fill a fabulous floral day out. Adult tickets start at £15.95, with a child ticket from just £7.15 and under 3s going free. Add a trip on the scenic steam railway during your visit for £7.50.


5. Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium

For a day out that is out of this world take a trip to the Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium. By booking 14 or more in advance, you can save compared with booking on the day or the day before with entry to the Science Centre costing from £15.40, and Planetarium show tickets at £4 each.


6. Milestones Museum

Meander the cobbled streets of Hampshire’s museum of living history in Basingstoke. Visitors can pay once and visit all year for £16.50 for an adult ticket, £11.50 for kids, and free for under 5s.


7. Spinnaker Tower

Experience the view from the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth – the stunning 170-metre icon of the South Coast and Britain’s best viewing tower. Online Saver Adult Admission is £13.95 and children £9.95 with littles ones aged 3 and under going free.


8. Jane Austen’s House

Have a regency day out at Jane Austen’s House. Discover the rooms where she lived and wrote, explore the pretty cottage garden, and try out traditional garden games and activities.

Advanced adult entry is £14.50, children £7, and under 6s are free. 


9. Winchester Cathedral

Marvel at one of the south of England’s most iconic historical buildings with a visit to Winchester Cathedral. Adult entry is £14 and children under 11 are free.


10. Gilbert White’s House & Gardens

The beautifully restored house and gardens in Selborne of natural history pioneer Gilbert White has much to explore for visitors of all ages. Adult entry for the garden is £13.50 and £16.50 for the house and garden. Under 16s are £6 for full entry, and under 5s go free. 


11. New Forest Wildlife Park

Follow the ultimate nature trail in the heart of the New Forest and see how many of the 260 animals you can find including otters, wild roaming deer, wolves, and wildcats. Adult entry is £15.95, and children aged 3 and above are £12.50.


12. West Green House Gardens

Step into these glorious gardens - a riot of colour across the summer months. With tickets from £10 for an adult. 


13. Aldershot Military Museum

Delve into Aldershot and Farnborough's military history on a visit to this museum. Join in with activity sheets and take on the WW2-inspired assault course. Adults £11, children 5-15 £8. Entry gives you a ticket valid for a year. 


14. Whitchurch Silk Mill

Discover more about the history of silk production and weaving in this fascinating riverside museum. Adults are £11 and children £5. Entrance is valid for one year. 


15. The Great Hall and Westgate Museum 

Experience two of Winchester's historic sights with your ticket. Tickets cost £9 for an adult and £6.50 for children. 


16. Butser Ancient Farm

Butser Ancient Farm, nestled within the South Downs National Park, is a wonderful outdoor space showcasing Ancient Britain through experimental archaeology. Pre-book online and adult tickets are £15.50 and £10.50 for children.


17. Calshot Activities Centre

Action enthusiasts are spoilt for choice at the super sporty Calshot Activities Centre. There are multiple experiences to choose from for under £20 including the Take Off wall climbing experience for £13 or snowboard on the dry slope from £19.


18. Hinton Ampner

Also a member of the National Trust family is Hinton Ampner, near Winchester: a house and garden widely acknowledged as a masterpiece of 20th century design. Depending on the season and day, adult house and garden tickets start at £16.50 and children £8.30.


19. Finkley Down Farm

This popular family attraction makes a great day out for the kids. Meet the resident animals, burn off steam in the large indoor play area and make the most of all of the outdoor activities. Tickets are from £13.95 when booked in advance.


20. The Vyne

Another Hampshire jewel in the National Trust crown, The Vyne near Basingstoke is a Tudor mansion built in the 16th century for Lord Sandys, Henry VIII's Lord Chamberlain. The house is surrounded by equally beautiful and impressive gardens. Adult admission is from £18.70 and children £9.40.
