About
Solent-side Royal Haslar is proud to announce the Autumn Haslar Open Day will take place on Saturday 11th October, from 10am to 3pm. The Haslar Open Day provides a great opportunity to visit and explore the 62-acre site near Alverstoke, on the South Hampshire coast, and gain an insider's view into life within the magnificent period buildings and see the exciting changes that are taking place within its stately grounds.
Since the first Halsar Open Day last September there have been a number of exciting developments at the historic Naval site. In addition to the launch of Coffee Quarters, Haslar's very own café launched by the Mayor of Gosport in June, and a visit from BBC One's hit television series Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr, plans for the next phase of development and changes to the appearance of the main entrance are both about to be announced.
Visitors to Coffee Quarters will spot a familiar face, as the drive and inspiration behind Royal Haslar's first café is Maria Wilkinson, who having made a popular return to The Creek and The Lightship has added Coffee Quarters to her expanding menu of venues, supported by 'comrade in cake', events manager Lou Lou Murphy. The Creek, is also part of Haslar Open Day and will be offering a Lunch Time Special for the day, 2 courses for £20.00 per person - from the Chef's Recommendations - and a glass of wine, beer or soft drink. It makes the perfect spot at which to end your visit to Haslar Open Day if going in the morning, or to start, if visiting us after lunch. To take advantage of the offer, simply quote HASLAR21.
Parking is available at the Marina and free for those eating at The Creek.
Haslar Open Day will also showcase a range of local businesses and organisations, offering visitors a chance to get to know the people and passions behind them and view that range of show apartments, including those by Design Masters contestants, at Royal Haslar. Among those taking part in the Open Day are Haslar Heritage Group. With their unrivalled knowledge of the site's fascinating history as the first naval hospital in the country, members of the group can be found at the pristinely restored St Luke's Church, the Grade II* Listed 1760s Theodore Jacobsen-designed building that stands at the heart of the Royal Haslar community. They will be available to answer questions and queries about the group, their activities and Royal Haslar itself, with Haslar books and merchandise available to buy.
Visitors can also ask about becoming a volunteer. The Memorial Garden will be open, discreetly located in a quiet corner of Royal Haslar, where Veterans' charity Shore Leave Haslar, who tend the garden while providing a safe haven and horticultural therapy to tri-service veterans, are also based and will be open with art and crafts made by volunteers and veterans for sale in support of the charity and offering tea, coffee and homemade cakes in the garden. Located in the new communal space at Trinity House, Open Day visitors will find the Senior Move Partnership to offer advice on the challenges of downsizing and the opportunity to sign up for Royal Haslar Downsizing events, charity Hub4Stuff, who are located at Haslar and help find new homes for key unwanted furniture items, Serenity Care with details of home help and care services that are available, The Book Shop Lee-on-Solent offering cards, gifts and details of the Haslar Book Club, and Gosport Pilates with Tracy, who offer classes at Trinity House, Royal Halsar. Pat Power, Director of Haslar Developments, says: "It is great to see the continued success of Haslar Open Days, which have rapidly become a fixture in the local events calendar, since our first last year. "The Open Day is a great opportunity for us to welcome the wider community into the wonderful grounds of Royal Haslar, inviting visitors to explore the history of the location and the growing Haslar community, discover great cake and coffee at Coffee Quarters, and view apartments currently available." Show apartments at Royal Haslar, including those created by Design Masters contestants, all located in Trinity House (the main quadrangle building), will be open to view. Representatives from instructed agents Fox & Sons and Savills will be on hand to answer questions about living at Royal Haslar, properties available and a range of special 'on the day only' buyer incentives. The team will also be happy to take details of any individuals, clubs or organisations who may be interested in running classes or events at Royal Haslar.
Haslar Open Day takes place on Saturday 11th October from 10am until 15.00 (last entry 14.30). Royal Haslar is located on Haslar Road, with FREE parking available on site; visitors should follow the signs to the designated parking areas and are asked NOT to park near the Memorial Garden, as the spaces there are for residents only. If attending with a friend or family member who has mobility issues and wishes to visit the Memorial Garden, we would ask that they please be dropped near the entrance to the garden, while the driver parks the car in a designated area.
