The Lasham Music Festival, takes place this year at venues in Alton and Lasham from 8th to 11th June, uniquely bringing exciting musical talent from all corners of Europe to a local, Hampshire audience.
The festival programme includes Schubert's iconic string quartet, "Death & the Maiden" given by the Mowsbki Quartet, Louis Spohr's rarely performed Nonet and a stunning arrangement of Johannes Brahms Symphony No.2 for 13 players under the baton of French conductor, Chloe van Soeterstede, who has served as Assistant Conductor with the Halle Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Lovers of lieder will be treated to an intimate performance of Schubert's masterpiece, Die Schöne Müllerin, given by Stephen Mills, Postgraduate student of the Royal College of Music and Paul Bambrough, Vice-Principal of the Birmingham Conservatoire. The Festival concludes with Johann Sebastian Bach's cantata 'Ich Habe Genug' for baritone, and Schubert's Octet.
During the Lasham Music Festival, the professional performers will participate in an outreach programme with local schools, aimed at encouraging the aspirations and potential of young musicians. Profits from the festival are used to assist classical music students, with connections to Lasham and surrounding districts, with their studies.
