About
This year sees the return of what could be classed as Southampton's longest bar - CAMRA's annual Southampton Beer Festival on June the 7th and 8th at St Mary's Stadium.
The festival will showcase up to 75 cask ales, featuring a range of quality traditional ales, new and exciting craft ales, brewery collaborations, and one-off specials. This vast range of beers will also be matched by a range of international bottled beers, real ciders and perry, a craft keg bar and new to the festival, a selection of popular gins – something to inspire and appeal to all tastes.
The festival will see a few changes to the opening times from previous years, with the introduction of a new all-day opening session on the Saturday, from 11.30 to 19.30. This will give ample time to sample a range of different drinks at a leisurely pace without having to rush off to catch the next train or bus. The festival will also be continuing the traditional Friday lunchtime 'quiet' session (11.30 to 16.00) and the popular Friday evening after work session (18.30-23.00).
The layout of the festival has also been enhanced to incorporate the newly-refurbished, contemporary and comfortable Gasworks suite as a second festival room with its popular outside 'beer garden' to allow the enjoyment of your drink while catching the summer sun; and plenty of comfortable seating in a spacious layout. Based on customer feedback a new food menu will be introduced, including a pulled pork bap, Thai curry, and a gourmet burger. Southampton Beer Festival are also pleased to welcome back Olives and Things with their Mediterranean-inspired snacks.
Entertainment for the festival will include the popular 'quiet' session on the Friday Afternoon, Olli Cotton performing an acoustic set on the Friday evening session and a packed Saturday session including a pub style quiz, and the bands Pink Champagne (jazz and blues), and the Arnie Cottrell Tendency closing the festival.
Tickets are now available priced £6.00 for the Friday afternoon session, £10.00 for the Friday evening session, and £10.00 for the all day Saturday session. Tickets can be purchased online via the festival website and at the following outlets: Bitter Virtue, Cambridge Road, Southampton; The Guide Dog, Earls Road, Southampton; Cask and Corks, St James Road, Southampton; Caskaway, Oxford Street, Southampton; Olaf's Tun, Portsmouth Road, Woolston; and Steam Town Brew Co., Bishopstoke Road, Eastleigh.
