Dynasty, Miami Vice,Toyah Wilcox, Adam Ant and Madonna are just some of the 80s fashion and music influences providing the flamboyant backdrop for this open air production of Twelfth Night in the grounds of Townhill Park House with its Gertrude Jekyll garden and open parkland.
Maskers Theatre brings one of William Shakespeare's best-loved comedies, Twelfth Night, to a new outdoor venue in Southampton – Townhill Park House, the home of The Gregg School - from 16-20 July.
Masker's production of Twelfth Night will be fusing the flamboyant fashion and music of the 1980s bringing back memories and past pleasures!! Along with Shakespeare's original prose and verse this is certain to be a winning mix.
The plot centres on the twins Viola and Sebastian, who are separated in a shipwreck. Viola (who is disguised as Cesario) falls in love with Duke Orsino, who in turn is in love with the Countess Olivia. Upon meeting Viola, Countess Olivia falls in love with her, thinking she is a man. Clear so far?
This tale of cross dressing, mistaken identity, musical interludes and riotous subplots, is guaranteed to tickle your funny bone. Fear not, SPOILER ALERT, in the end, love conquers all !
The love triangle will both enchant and amuse you, as you relax, enjoy and enjoy a picnic in the leafy gardens of Townhill Park House.
