Rooks Cottage is a beautifully curated holiday home for five guests and a pooch, offering a slice of country life in effortless comfort. Set in the village of Pilley in the New Forest, you’ll be just moments along the lane to a great pub for dinner, and from fields, woods and heathland where ponies, cattle and donkeys freely roam.
Inside, there’s an easy flow between rooms. The relaxed lounge features a striking inglenook fireplace that’s home to a log-burning stove for winter fireside evenings. Plus, a separate snug filled with a big, soft sofa and a writing desk for reading, a games room for the kids or somewhere to fire up a computer. The kitchen/diner, with its bay-window table for six, is bright and well equipped, and upstairs, you’ll find two king-size bedrooms (one en suite) and a single.
Outside, the garden is leafy, lush and private. Head there for al fresco meals or simply to enjoy the fresh forest air. There’s a paved terrace topped with patio furniture and a step up to a large flat lawn (croquet anyone?), edged with blooms, shrubs and majestic trees providing spots of dappled shade. There’s even table tennis for friendly family competitions.
