What can twenty pounds buy you in Hampshire?  The answer is a whole lotta fun!

We’ve done the research for you and summed up twenty tremendous things you can do for twenty pounds in Hampshire — and most of them will leave you plenty of change to buy a cuppa in the café too!

Ticket prices were correct at the time of publishing but please check with each attraction before visiting and you can usually save some money if you book online in advance too!


1. Sir Harold Hillier Gardens

Stroll the magnificent Sir Harold Hillier Gardens set over 180 acres of rolling Hampshire countryside. Take in the beautiful floral displays during any season with plenty for the little ones to explore too. Adult entry is £14.30, children just £4.20, and under 5s go free.


2. Marwell Zoo  

Head out on a Hampshire safari at Marwell Zoo and spot hundreds of exotic and endangered animals within the beautiful 140-acre park. A gift-aided day pass is £19 for adults, £15.50 for children, and under 2s go free. 


3. Hawk Conservancy Trust

Become an ornithologist for the day and see the brilliant birds and spectacular flying displays at the Hawk Conservancy Trust near Andover. Adult tickets are £19.95 with children costing £14.95 and under 4s free.


4. Exbury Gardens

This spectacular landscaped garden has enough pretty corners to fill a fabulous floral day out. Adult tickets start at £16, with a child ticket just £6 and under 3s going free. Add a trip on the scenic steam railway during your visit for £6.50.


5. Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium

For a day out that is out of this world take a trip to the Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium. By booking a week or more in advance, you can save 25% compared with booking on the day or the day before with entry to the Science Centre costing from £12.50, and Planetarium show tickets at £4 each.


6. Milestones Living History Museum

Meander the cobbled streets of Hampshire’s museum of living history in Basingstoke. Visitors can pay once and visit all year for £18.50 for an adult ticket, £13 for kids, and free for under 5s.


7. Spinnaker Tower

Experience the view from the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth – the stunning 170-metre icon of the South Coast and Britain’s best viewing tower. Adult Admission is £14.75 and children £11.50 with littles ones aged 3 and under going free.


8. Jane Austen’s House

Have a regency day out at Jane Austen’s House. Discover the rooms where she lived and wrote, explore the pretty cottage garden, and try out traditional garden games and activities.

Adult entry is £13.50, children £6, and under 6s are free. Tickets automatically become an annual pass meaning that you can revisit the house as many times as you like for the next twelve months.


9. Winchester Cathedral

Marvel at one of the south of England’s most iconic historical buildings with a visit to Winchester Cathedral. Adult entry is £12.50 and children under 16 are free.


10. Gilbert White’s House & Gardens

The beautifully restored house and gardens in Selborne of natural history pioneer Gilbert White has much to explore for visitors of all ages. Adult entry for the garden is £12 and £18 for the house and garden. Under 16s are £6 for full entry, and under 5s go free. Tickets are automatically upgraded to an annual pass and valid for 12 months from the date they are purchased. 


11. New Forest Wildlife Park

Follow the ultimate nature trail in the heart of the New Forest and see how many of the 260 animals you can find including otters, wild roaming deer, wolves, and wildcats. Adult entry is £14.75, and children aged 3 and above are £11.25.


12. Go Ape at Southampton, Moors Valley Country Park, or Alice Holt Forest

Swing through the trees at a Go Ape fun-filled high ropes adventure in Hampshire.  You can enjoy Go Ape at Itchen Valley Country Park near Southampton, Moors Valley Country Park in Ringwood, and Alice Holt Forest, with a treetop adventure costing £20.


13. Bombay Sapphire Distillery

Discover the magic ingredients that make up this iconic gin and Bombay Sapphire’s home in Hampshire with a discovery experience for £20.


14. Mottisfont Abbey

The National Trust’s Mottisfont Abbey near Romsey is famed for its collection of roses, with stunning gardens to explore any time of the year and regular children’s trails in the house and grounds. Admission starts from £20 for adults and £10 for children.


15. 878 AD, Winchester City Museum, and Westgate Museum 

Experience the sights and sounds of Anglo-Saxon Winchester in the exciting immersive experience 878 AD. A Winchester trio ticket is £12 for an adult and £8.50 for a child, giving you access to three Hampshire Cultural Trust attractions: 878 AD, Winchester City Museum, and Westgate Museum. 


16. Butser Ancient Farm

Butser Ancient Farm, nestled within the South Downs National Park, is a wonderful outdoor space showcasing Ancient Britain through experimental archaeology. Pre-book online and adult tickets are £11.50 and £7.50 for children.


17. Calshot Activities Centre

Action enthusiasts are spoilt for choice at the super sporty Calshot Activities Centre. There are multiple experiences to choose from for under £20 including the Take Off wall climbing experience for £10, the aero trek obstacle course for £14 or a ski or snowboard on the dry slope from £18.


18. Hinton Ampner

Also a member of the National Trust family is Hinton Ampner, near Winchester: a house and garden widely acknowledged as a masterpiece of 20th century design. Depending on the season and day, adult house and garden tickets start at £13 and children £6.50.


19. New Forest Water Park

Take on the inflatable obstacle course of the New Forest Water Park: bouncing, slipping, and sliding your way around the aqua park’s trampolines, slides, and hurdles costs £20 for a one-hour session.


20. The Vyne

Another Hampshire jewel in the National Trust crown, The Vyne near Basingstoke is a Tudor mansion built in the 16th century for Lord Sandys, Henry VIII's Lord Chamberlain. The house is surrounded by equally beautiful and impressive gardens. Adult admission is from £14 and children £7.
