Hampshire is quietly one of England's great food counties. Chalk streams, ancient woodland, coastal marshes and rolling downlands produce some of the finest meat, fish, fruit and vegetables in the country.
Whether you're stocking up for a self-catering stay in Hampshire, packing a picnic for a day out or simply looking for a brilliant lunch stop, here are the farm shops worth going out of your way for.
Farm Shops in the South Downs

Sky Park Farm won the Small Farm Shop category in 2024 and it's easy to see why. The shop carries a deli counter, an extensive butchery offering naturally lean venison reared on the farm, Great Taste award-winning bacon, homemade biltong, daily smoker specials and a dry-ager where customers can select their own cuts to mature. The 30-mile sourcing mission means fresh fruit, vegetables, bread and groceries are all chosen for provenance as well as quality, and home-produced frozen ready meals and locally made English wine round things off beautifully. One of Hampshire's most exciting farm shops.
Set in tranquil countryside on the Hampshire and Sussex border, Durleighmarsh Farm Shop & Pick Your Own, Petersfield offers a huge range of pick-your-own fruit and vegetable crops throughout the season, from strawberries, raspberries and blueberries to sweetcorn, courgettes and pumpkins, with over 100 acres dedicated to asparagus alone. The farm shop stocks fresh seasonal produce direct from the fields, making this a brilliant summer and autumn outing for foodies who like to get close to where their food actually comes from.
Farm Shops in the New Forest
Hockey's Farm Shop is an award-winning, family-owned shop near Fordingbridge that has been welcoming visitors since the 1980s and is now into its fourth generation, with a Farmyard Café, traditional butchery and shelves packed with carefully selected New Forest and Hampshire producers. The meat is fully traceable, including Hockey's own rare breed British Lop pork alongside locally produced beef, lamb and turkey. Before you leave, step into The Vinery for local candles, gifts and produce, and don't miss the alpacas and donkeys on your way round.
Longdown Activity Farm Shop, Ashurst, situated at the entrance to Longdown Activity Farm, the farm shop is committed to supporting local producers and farmers, stocking cuts of locally reared meat, a range of sausages, game, fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy products and award-winning cheeses. The shop is free to visit, making it an easy stop even if a full farm visit isn't on the agenda. That said, if you're bringing the family, combining the two makes for a brilliant New Forest day out.
Danestream Farm Shop, Sway has been run by a Master Butcher for over 30 years, so local meat is very much the speciality here. Alongside an excellent butchery counter, the shop offers a large range of dairy products and a selection of homemade pies including pigeon, game, steak and stilton, and lamb and vegetable. A serious foodie find in a quiet New Forest village.
Acorn Place Shop & Deli at Sandy Balls Holiday Park is superbly stocked with local produce from the New Forest and Isle of Wight. The deli counter carries locally sourced seasonal produce including fresh meats and ready meals, and the shelves are lined with regional ales, artisan cheeses, preserves, chutneys and handcrafted New Forest gin. Particularly worth knowing about if you're camping or staying in the forest and want to eat well without venturing far.
Farm Shops near Winchester and Alresford
What began as a simple watercress shed has grown into one of Hampshire's most celebrated food destinations, crowned Best Farm Shop in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight at the 2022 Muddy Awards. Cobbs Farm Shop & Kitchen, at Headbourne Worthy, Winchester carries a traditional butchery counter sourcing ethically farmed meat from local farms, free-range pork and poultry, local lamb, seasonal game and local beef dry-aged for 28 days on site, alongside a deli, florist, plant centre and a weekly pop-up fishmonger. The café is excellent too, with a seasonal menu and indoor and outdoor seating.
West Lea Farm Shop sits surrounded by mature watercress beds just outside Alresford, with over 90% of its stock sourced from producers within a few miles of the shop. Expect trout from Itchen Abbas, home-grown watercress, fruit and vegetables, locally made cakes, biscuits and scones, local eggs, cheeses, honey, preserves, bread and pastries and ice cream.
