For more than 60 years, Alder Valley Brass has enjoyed entertaining the public at venues ranging from Windsor Castle, Epsom Racecourse and Hampton Court Palace to many of the UK's famous parks & bandstands. The band has also undertaken many foreign tours including Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Belgium. Alder Valley Brass compete in brass band competitions and have represented the London and Southern Counties in the National Brass Band Championships Finals. In June, the band competed at the Whit Friday Marches in Saddleworth, Oldham and came a creditable 14th out of 61 bands at Dobcross.
Alder Valley Brass has an extensive experience of television, radio and theatre including Aldershot Brass Ensemble's appearances on 'The Two Ronnies' and the BBC sitcom 'Oh Happy Band'. The band featured in 14 consecutive performances of the hit play "Brassed Off" at theatres in Woking and Richmond. More recently, Alder Valley Brass were approached to provide a brass ensemble for the film 'The Dig' starring Carey Mulligan and Ralph Fiennes, which topped the viewing charts when it was released on Netflix.
Much of the band's concert work is in support of local charities and there have been proud moments working with Help for Heroes, the Royal British Legion, The SSAFA (The Armed Forces Charity) and The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. We enjoy performing with other musical groups. This year the band have done joint concerts with Guildford Vox Choir and Tintwistle Brass Band. We are very proud to lead the Farnham Remembrance Day Parade every year. The band were honoured to play for Farnham's reading of the Proclamation of King Charles III outside the Town Hall.
