About
To round off this momentous year in the history of our world famous local novelist and to celebrate her appearance on Bank of England £10 notes, The Triangle Centre in Liss is hosting an afternoon of Jane Austen which will include an illustrated talk on her years living in Chawton, near Alton. Julia Mayo will talk about this final chapter in her life, the years when her books were published and that she achieved her long held ambition to become an established author.
Afternoon Tea will be served and One Tree Books will be on hand to offer reading recommendations and a bookstall. The audience is encouraged to come along equipped with their favourite novel and perhaps even dress the part!
The final session of the afternoon will be an opportunity for the audience to express their own thoughts about Jane’s window on the world of Georgian England. Julia Mayo will talk briefly about the skill of letter writing; so important in the lives of Jane, her family and all her fictional characters.
Tickets include a tea of scones, cream & jam, a choice of cake, tea or coffee. And in true Georgian fashion; the opportunity to avail yourself of a glass of fortified wine (Sherry or Madeira) at a small extra charge.
Tickets: £9 The Triangle on 01730 301000 www.liss-triangle-centre.org.uk
Ample free parking in Liss, disabled spaces and visitor drop off outside the front door. The Triangle’s newly extended and re-furbished coffee bar will be open.
