Owls by Moonlight and Owl-O-Ween at Hawk Conservancy Trust
Selected dates from 27 September to 25 October
The darker evenings of autumn mean nighttime flying displays at the Hawk Conservancy Trust near Andover, perfect for Owl encounters set against moonlit skies.
On selected dates from 27 September, Owls by Moonlight offer the enchanting chance to see the Trust’s beautiful owls flying by night, and Owl-O-Ween takes on a Halloween Twist on 29 and 30 October.
31 Days of Halloween at Mill Rythe Coastal Village and Sandy Balls Holiday Village
29 September – 2 November
Have a spooky stay in Hampshire this autumn as Away Resorts hosts a whole month of spooktacular fun with 31 Days of Halloween.
Stay at Mill Rythe Coastal Village on Hayling Island or Sandy Balls Holiday Village in the New Forest during October and dive into pumpkin carving, Spooky Woods adventures, a Franken-SLIME Laboratory, Hocus Pocus Pottery Painting, and Halloween Tie-Dye with the Boo Crew.
Autumn Steam Gala at The Watercress Line
3 – 5 October
The Watercress Line’s Autumn Steam Gala is a seasonal celebration of all things locomotive with the chance to enjoy unlimited rides behind a range of visiting and home-fleet trains running on an enhanced timetable along the scenic 10-mile line. Hop off at the Watercress Line’s heritage stations to get up close to some of the locomotives and enjoy talks and exhibits.
Later in the month, Wizard Week returns to The Watercress Line from 25 October to 2 November with magic and mayhem for the little ones.
Law Week Festival at Winchester Cathedral
10 – 18 October
Winchester Cathedral’s Law Week Festival brings a programme of experiences, thought-provoking discussions, and artistic presentations, all designed to open minds and explore the intersections of law, society, and justice. It’s an enlightening and enriching week at Winchester Cathedral, where the law is not just studied but brought to life in ways that challenge, inform, and inspire.
Halloween Spooktacular at Paultons Park
16 October – 3 November
Have the BEST. DAY. EVER Halloween style as the UK’s Number 1 Family Theme Park gets a spooky makeover for October half term.
There will be heaps of fa-boo-lous photo opportunities amongst the Halloween decorations, new spooky shows, and the chance to brave the rides in the dark with late-night openings on 28, 29, and 30 October 2025.
Sundown Adventures at Go Ape Southampton, Moors Valley, and Alice Holt.
17 October – 9 November
Back by popular demand, Go Ape Sundown Adventures offers a new level of forest fun in the dark. Become a creature of the night as you climb through the canopy on a high ropes course lit with colourful lights. Test your skills on tree top crossings and experience the thrill of a zip wire ride into the darkness. It's a unique opportunity to enjoy the forest's beauty and experience the adrenaline rush of adventure after dark.
Great South Run
19 October
The world's premier 10-mile running event returns to Portsmouth this October, taking runners past some of Portsmouth's best scenery, including the Spinnaker Tower, Southsea Seafront and through Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
There are also several other races taking part across the weekend for all ages and abilities, plus plenty of cheering opportunities for spectators to join the fun.
Pumpkinville at Gunwharf Quays
24 October – 2 November
New for 2025, Portsmouth will become the first location in the UK to host a new entertainment concept when the new 'ApolloDomes' attraction launches at Gunwharf Quays with an immersive Halloween experience featuring theatrical experiences, film projections and spooktacular effects.
MAMMA MIA! at Mayflower Theatre
24 October – 8 November
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! some Greek sunshine this autumn – delivered straight from London’s West End to Mayflower Theatre Southampton, MAMMA MIA! brings the ultimate feel-good factor with its exhilarating smash-hit musical.
Escape to the island of Kalokairi and dance along to the iconic ABBA soundtrack for three weeks, and three weeks only this autumn.
Oktoberfest Southampton
25 – 26 October
Raise a glass! Bavarian revelry returns this autumn with Oktoberfest Southampton, the city’s take on the traditional German October celebration.
Guildhall Square will be filled with the smells of sausages, pretzels, and sauerkraut, and the sounds of Oompah bands and cheerfully clinking steins.
Halloween at New Forest Activities
Selected dates from 25 October to 1 November
To wear out your little (and big) monsters in the great outdoors, New Forest Activities has you covered this autumn with Spooky Halloween River Tours, BattleZone Apocalypse Laser Tag, Halloween Archery Pumpkin Shooting, and a Canoe Halloween Treasure Hunt.
Frightfully Fun October half term in Basingstoke
29 – 31 October
Free family Halloween fun courtesy of Love Basingstoke, with three days of frightfully fantastic entertainment in Basingstoke Town Centre. Join in a selection of spooktacular activities, including magical moments, creative crafts, disco magic, and eerie adventures.
The Utilita Bowl Fireworks Party
7 November
Always a top date in the November diary, The Utilita Bowl Fireworks Party will get the month started with a bang on Friday 7 November with the home of Hampshire Cricket hosting entertainment, a funfair, music, giveaways, and of course spectacular fireworks.
Winchester Bonfire and Fireworks
8 November
Starting with its annual city centre procession, the Winchester Bonfire and Fireworks night is a huge community event raising money for the Winchester Round Table Charitable Trust Fund to help local people. After the procession, the bonfire is lit and the spectacular fireworks display is enjoyed by over 20,000 people.
Mayflower Park Southampton Fireworks
8 November
Promising an explosive evening of fun and excitement, the Southampton family fireworks display at Mayflower Park will light up the skies across The Solent with vibrant colours, crackling sounds, and dazzling fireworks.
The Southampton 1.5k, 5k, 10k and Half Marathon MoRun
9 November
Move into Movember with the Southampton MoRun on 9 November, a fun run to help raise awareness and fundraising for Men's Health.
There are 5k, 10k, or Half Marathon distances to sign up for and take part in, plus a 1.5k Mini MoRun for kids.
