Convenience plays a starring role when holidaying at Southcote. This showpiece of a holiday home in Totton is an easy hop just up the road to The New Forest National Park. And a quick drive delivers three fascinating castles to visit – Calshot, Hurst and Porchester, an unspoilt coastline, and the maritime city of Southampton, which is packed with history, entertainment and some excellent shopping. 

Four guests and up to 2 dogs can enjoy staying at Southcote, where the owners have gone above and beyond to create a house of immaculate style with high-end furnishings and creature comforts. Upstairs are two bedrooms and a study, which could also fit a cot for babes in arms. Downstairs, the lounge and kitchen/diner sit side by side, with the latter having patio doors to a bright, sunny conservatory with more seating, making a good spot to grab a quiet morning coffee and later in the day as a bolthole for youngsters to play games. 

The garden is completely enclosed and private, with landscaped stone and gravel, softened by the addition of a young tree and a pretty blue-painted summer house. To maximise the gardens’ sunny aspect, there is a platform of wood decking topped with a lovely rattan dining set and a large parasol for those bright days or rays.
