BRICKOSAURS! at Marwell Zoo

BRICKOSAURS! is a world-first collection of giant LEGO brick dinosaurs coming to Marwell Zoo in 2019. See 50 life-size sculptures, plus the largest touring LEGO dinosaur ever made – a whopping 8 metre T-Rex! Visitors will also be able to try their hand in making their own creations at BICKOSAURS! Basecamp.

Dogstival in the New Forest    

Love dogs? This festival is for you and your four-legged friends. Taking place in the New Forest National Park this brand-new festival for 2019, hosted by Chris Packham, will be your chance to meet hundreds of other dogs, explore interactive displays, learn more about your four-legged friend and enjoy food, drink and live music. Tickets are now on sale.

Cricket World Cup

2019 will see the England and Wales host the Cricket World Cup and five matches will take place in Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.  Cricket enthusiasts are also likely to make the pilgrimage to the village of Hambledon named the “Cradle of cricket” where the formation of the modern game began.

New activities coming to Calshot Activities Centre

Located on the end of Calshot Spit, Calshot Activities Centre is home to an indoor dry ski slope, velodrome and rock-climbing walls. In 2019 the centre will be launching a whole new range of activities for all ages. Clip and climb, Aerial Trekking and Laser Bouldering will be coming to the centre in 2019. More details will be coming soon.

Leonardo di Vinci: A Life in Drawings Exhibition at Southampton City Art Gallery 

To mark the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, 144 of the Renaissance master’s drawings in the Royal Collection will go on display in 12 simultaneous exhibitions across the UK. Southampton Art Gallery will be the only venue to host the exhibition on the South Coast. The exhibition will be on display from the 1st February to the 6th March 2019.

Jane Austen’s House Museum 70th Anniversary 

Jane Austen’s House Museum is the only house where Jane Austen lived and wrote and 2019 sees the celebration of the 70th anniversary since the house opened to the public. Throughout the year of celebrations, a number of events and displays dedicated to the life of the museum will take place. Event highlights include a new series of Director’s Talk and Tours, Austen music workshop, writing workshops, guided walks and a special Birthday event on Saturday 27th July 2019.

Charles Kingsley 200 Festival 

Charles Kingsley the author of Water Babies and chaplain to Queen Victoria was the Rector of Eversley in the North of Hampshire. 2019 marks the 200th anniversary of his birth and a series of commemorative events will be taking place, including concerts, music, talks and storytelling.

Centenary of Exbury Gardens 

Exbury Gardens will be celebrating their centenary of when the Rothschild family bought the property and started the gardens with an unveiling of a new ‘secret’ garden. During 2019 visitors will be able get a first glimpse of the ‘secret’ garden, which will be designed by RHS golf medal award-winning designer Marie-Louise Agius.

75th Anniversary of D-Day in Portsmouth

2019 marks the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the Naval city of Portsmouth will be hosting several events and activities to mark this momentous time in history. The city is also home to the attraction, D-Day Story, which recently when through a £5m refurbishment. More details about the programme of events will be coming soon.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Exhibition at Beaulieu

To celebrate 50 years of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Beaulieu National Museum has a special exhibition featuring Coggin’s Garage, technical drawings and original costumes and props. A reconstructed Chitty Chitty Bang Bang can be seen driving around the grounds at various times throughout the day.

Kings and Scribes Exhibitions at Winchester Cathedral

In 2019 Winchester Cathedral will be opening their new major exhibitions which will showcase the specular Winchester Bible, alongside the Cathedral’s other treasures. This exciting new exhibition is due to open in spring 2019.

Pirates at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

Landlubbers beware. As the mist clears in Portsmouth, the distant sound of sword fighting and muskets are heard. Mischievous pirates will be landing and taking you on a whirlwind adventure across Portsmouth Historid dockyard in 2019.
