This enchanting, dog-friendly cottage enjoys far-reaching views across the New Forest and sleeps four guests in two bedrooms. It's a wonderfully restful holiday home, created to enjoy the National Parks ever-changing scenery in comfort.
After a day exploring, come back to Highway Cottage and sink into the large leather sofa with a cuppa in hand and watch the free-roaming donkeys, ponies, deer and woodland wildlife mooch about outside your window. And when the sun goes down, if you don't fancy eating out, order one in, flick on the TV and DVD player and hunker down to watch a film.
The main living space at Highway Cottage is all on one level, on the first floor - to take advantage of the spectacular views and enjoys high ceilings, huge picture windows and polished wood floors. There are two bedrooms – a king double and a twin, plus a bright, airy bathroom with bath and overhead shower.
Downstairs is an internal garage and utility room with a washer/dryer and door out to a dinky courtyard garden with patio table and chairs for those warm summer nights that beckon al fresco dining. But don't think you need to cook, because being on the edge of Brockenhurst, you are within easy toddle distance to this vibrant village's collection of popular restaurants and gastro pubs.
Aside from the obvious days of chilling, there are endless walks and cycle tracks (bring your own bike or hire one from the village) from the front door, which beg to be accompanied by a picnic. There are plenty of downloadable routes to explore, encompassing some of the prettiest parts of the New Forest. These include nearby Bolderwood - where you can view a herd of deer in their natural habitat and take a walk through the Arboretum, where you’ll find giant Redwoods and ridiculously tall Douglas Fir trees.
