Halloween at Hampshire’s attractions

Many of Hampshire’s attractions will be getting seasonal makeovers to look terror-iffic for Halloween. See the decorations and spooky shows, and brave the rides in the dark with late-night openings at the Halloween Spooktacular at Paultons Park (16 October – 3 November).

Marwell Zoo will be getting some boo-tiful outdoor backdrops with Wild Autumn (25 October – 2 November) where there will be pumpkin carving, a haybale maze and plenty of wildlife adventures, and over at The Watercress Line, Wizard Week returns (25 October – 2 November) with spellbinding activities for young witches and wizards on the spooky steam trains.

Half term week will be filled with Halloween activities for children at Sky Park Farm (27 October – 1 November) including wildlife encounters, spooky crafts, and a Boogie Oogie Silent Disco.

Uncover enchanting folklore and listen to spooky stories in Palace House at Beaulieu (25 October – 2 November) where there will be a new Forest Folklore and Phantoms Trail.

At Exbury Gardens the ghoulish Ghost Train returns (25 October – 31 October) and Owl-O-Ween at Hawk Conservancy Trust (29 and 30 October) will see the owls flying by the Halloween moon.

Halloween trails in Hampshire

A Haunted Forest Halloween Trail at Itchen Valley Country Park (25 October – 2 November) will wind its way through the woods and there will also be Halloween crafts and a spooky silent disco during half term.

Free Halloween Fun at Fort Nelson (25 October – 2 November) includes Willow the Witch’s Riddle Trail plus lots more Halloween activities, and at Hurst Castle follow and solve the Treasure Trail and descend into the basement to escape the King Charles I Traitor or Faithful maze.

Follow the National Trust trail with 'We're Going on a Ghost Hunt' Halloween Adventure at The Vyne (11 October – 2 November), a James Bond inspired The Agent 11¾ spy trail at Mottisfont (4 October – 2 November), and Halloween Half Term Trail: Wilma the Witch is on a Quest! at Hinton Ampner (18 October – 2 November).

There’s a Halloween Hunt at Moors Valley Country Park (3 October – 4 November) for little ones during the day, and by night the woodland takes on a terrifying twist with the return of the spectacular Halloween at Moors Valley illuminated trail.

There’s also a Pumpkin Trail at Gilbert White's House and Gardens (25 October – 2 November) and in Winchester City Centre, Winchester BID’s free Spooktacular Halloween Trail (18 October – 2 November) will be hiding Halloween words in the windows of local businesses.

Hallo'Welly'Ween at Wellington Country Park (25 October – 31 October) includes a whole ghost of activities including a mini pumpkin patch, creepy crafts, a family circus, and Halloween train rides.

Outdoor Halloween adventures in Hampshire

Halloween outdoor adventures with New Forest Activities (selected dates from 25 October to 1 November) are sure to wear out little and big kids alike. Choose from Spooky Halloween River Tours, BattleZone Apocalypse Laser Tag, Halloween Archery Pumpkin Shooting, and a Canoe Halloween Treasure Hunt.

Or take on a high ropes course by night with Sundown Adventures at Go Ape Southampton, Moors Valley, and Alice Holt (17 October – 9 November).

Indoor Halloween fun in Hampshire

Discover gruesome and ghastly history with Horrible Histories: Vile Victorians at Milestones Museum (25 October – 2 November), or join the Halloween UV Pumpkin Party (29 October) at Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium.

Get crafty with the Halloween Build a Teddy Workshop at Spinnaker Tower (29 October – 31 October) and next door at Gunwharf Quays, a brand new UK Halloween experience will be popping up with Pumpkinville (24 October – 2 November) where the giant 'ApolloDomes' will host The Spook-Ademy, an immersive daytime theatre show for kids.

Take your pick of the pumpkins this Halloween with PYO experiences across Hampshire including Rogate Pumpkin Patch (selected dates from 17 October – 4 November) and Pumpkin Time at Sunnyfields Farm (selected dates from 4 October – 31 October).

For a Halloweeny family holiday, book at stay Mill Rythe Coastal Village on Hayling Island or Sandy Balls Holiday Village in the New Forest for 31 Days of Halloween, a whole month filled with spooky fun and entertainment.

Halloween isn’t just for kids – from monstrous movies to chilling ghost tours, check out these ghoulish events for grown-ups.

Sit on the edge of your seat in the Bombay Sapphire Distillery’s Sapphire Cinema for a nail-biting screening of JAWS (26 October) complete with Gin & Tonic cocktails from the Turbine Bar to calm your nerves.

Visit Pumpkinville (24 October – 2 November) – the new immersive Halloween experience at Gunwharf Quays – after dark and prepare to be terrified at The Pumpkin Picturehouse, showing seasonal vintage horror films and The Summoning, a séance horror experience. Recover with a spooky cocktail from Pumpkinville’s Lantern Lounge.

The Garden Society near Southampton is celebrating Mexico’s Dia De Los Muertos with a Day of the Dead take on Fiesta (selected dates 4 October – 1 November), their summer sell-out cabaret dinner with spinetingling acts.

The critically acclaimed Women in Rock UK tour, will be in Portsmouth for a Halloween special with the Women in Rock – Halloween Spooktacular! At New Theatre Royal Portsmouth (30 October), for some hair-raising music to raise the roof.

Dare to join the Winchester Halloween guided walking tour (31 October), the Southampton Ghost Tour (31 October) or Basing House Ghost Walks (23 October – 30 October).

If Halloween isn’t for you, October is also a magical time of year to discover Hampshire’s quieter side.

Soak in the autumn colour with nature’s spectacular golden show in the New Forest National Park or at one of Hampshire’s autumn gardens. Step out into the rolling hills of the South Downs National Park or enjoy the county’s coastline and beaches. Go on an autumn walk or get out on wheels with an autumn bike ride.

Autumn also offers a tranquil opportunity to discover Hampshire’s historic sights such as Winchester Cathedral, Jane Austen's House, or Bucklers Hard.
